Upgrade from 4.0 to 2011 aborts with timeout when large attachent tables in place

I'm trying to upgrade a Customer base with 130GB from CRM 4.0 to 2011. My Customer have large ActivityMimeAttachment Table (28GB) and a large AnnotationBase (68GB).

I setup query timeout on SQLServer to 0, but I has no effect. The Process is taking several hours and aborts when executing the alter table command to A

The point is.. there are any recommendations when upgranding this sceario ?
