In previous versions any saved views were presented in the drop down list in alpha order, and now the equivalent list in Oulook client is in Date Created order with newest at the end. I would like to have this list in alpha order.
Using CRM 2011 Outlook 2010 Client - The tab containing System Views and My Views list, in the Accounts List form is in date created order. How can I sort this into Alpha order? Thank you.
What causes CRM 2011 custom code to work for some users but not other users
Hi. We have a situation with our CRM 2011 On Premise system where we wrote some custom code to look to see if a Case has Open Activities before it processes to the next resolution stage.
All the users in our system (currently just developers) have the same System Role of System Administration.
The code works great for the developer who put in the custom code but does not work for anyone else even when tested against the same Case at the same stage with the same Open Activity.
We are puzzled and would rather have it fail all the time then to work correctly for just one user but not for anyone else.
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this and more importantly have to correct it.
Thanks.

CRM 2011 - Import is very slow for a specific Security role
Hi All,
We are facing issues with the CRM import in our application when we try to import data for users with a specific security role. We have one security role "Test" which has been granted with all the accesses for doing an import in CRM, The import takes a very long time of around 1 hour 45 minutes for a file of 400 lines when we do it through this role. But the same import file of 400 lines takes a comparatively lesser time of around 6 minutes when we do it with a System Administrator role.
The role "Test" has been provided with the necessary access to do an import. Still this takes a lot of time for importing. We have tried the below methods. Still we are not able to get into a resolution.
1. Import using a test role manually created (Same as "Test")
Created a new test role and manually assigned privileges to the role same as that of “Test" role. Assigned the user with the test role and tried an import of 400 lines.
It almost took the same time of 1 hour and 40 minutes for the import to get completed.
2. Import using a test role created from System Admin role(Same as "Test")
Copied the System Admin role and created a new test role and manually removed privileges from the new test role to make it the same as that of “Test” role. Assigned the user with the test role and tried an import of 400 lines.
It almost took almost the same time of 1 hour and 43 minutes for the import to get completed.
Please let me know whether you have any idea on the above issue. Thanks in Advance!!
Import multiple contacts under the same account - duplicate error
Hi guys,
I uploaded my contacts and accounts. However some contacts (with duplicate account name) didn't upload. How can I solve this? (I tried duplicate rules and allowed them, but it didn't help).
-do I need to create a workflow?
-do I need to disallow duplicate account names?
The error messages in the import log says: A DUPLICATE LOOKUP REFERENCE WAS FOUND.
Thanks in advance guys!

CRM online reminder
Hello folks,
I know there is no support for reminders in the web version, and I really hate the dependency on outlook.
my question is, does anyone here know of any plug-in/add-on available to purchase that works?
Thanks
CRM IFD Access Restricted for 2 Users. Receiving 404 Errors
We have recently deployed CRM2011, upgrading from 4.0, in doing so there are 2 users that cannot access our external URL set up through IFD.
Both users can access CRM using internal and external URL ONLY when on network. However, I am able to access using my credentials from their workstations off-network.
When they attempt to log in using IFD, they submit their credentials via ADFS log-in, and then receive a CRM 404 error.
I have checked all their setting in Active Directory and things look good.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
Can't Hide Entity in Site Map
I'm editing the Site Map of a virgin (brand new) CRM 2011 Online organization.
I've been commenting out the XML for the entities I wish to hide.
I've done this successfully for all entities EXCEPT the 'Competitors' entity.
I've double checked the XML. The competitors entity is commented out, yet it still appears in the site map after the customizations have been published. Weird.
Is there some sort of dependency that forces it to stay? I've removed the competitor fields from the lead/opportunity forms.
See attached my Site Map Zip File.

outlook 2013 crm connection not working
We have recently implemented CRM 2011 and I am having an issue configuring CRM for Outlook 2013. When I enter the server URL on a computer with Windows 8 and Outlook 2013 I am getting an error that says there is a problem communicating with the MD CRM server. The server might be unavailable. I am able to log into the CRM with the user's credentials so the server is up and running. I am able to install and configure the CRM for Outlook on a Windows 7 Outlook 2010 computer and that is working perfectly. We have installed the latest Rollup and Windows Identity Foundation 3.5 has been installed. The time is syncronized. I have listed below the error log for my most recent attempts to connect.
All help is appreciated.
10:10:47| Error| Exception : The request for security token could not be satisfied because authentication failed. at System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityUtils.ThrowIfNegotiationFault(Message message, EndpointAddress target)

CRM Online 2011 Plug-in and Outlook 2013 (64bit)
Does anyone know if the CRM Online plug-in is supported with Outlook 2013 (64-bit)? It installs correctly and the CRM icons and navigator show up, but when you click on things nothing shows up. And when you go into the navigator it says that it can't display the web page. But I am able to login and my organization shows up, and I'm even able to have it sync.
Problem after changing language
Hi all.
I run Dynamics CRM (hosted at Microsofts servers) for my company with the default language of Swedish.
To accommodate our Danish users I've enabled the Danish language pack in the admin panel.
When I changed the users language to Danish I can't use the settings dialog in Outlook -> File -> Settings. See image below.
The CRM "part" is also gone in the left bar (E-mail, calendar, contacts etc).
After logging in via the web (instead of using Outlook), I get the following error: http://pastebin.com/pAcPVZyD
How can I fix this? Everything works fine before I change the language. And, how do I change the language back to Swedish? Since I can't access settings.
Best regards
Max
Lead.js error qualifying lead to Acct+Opp (related to duplicate detection)
For the past few days we have been unable to qualify leads.
One can open a lead, click qualify, the pop-up appears, select Account + Opportunity, confirm, the Duplicate Detection window pops up and then regardless of whether duplicates exist or not, clicking Save Record will cause Dynamics to hang.
On some machines the Duplicate Detection window simply disappears and the lead window remains all greyed out without anything happening (refreshing the window shows that the lead is still active and the Account+Opportunity did not get created).
On other machines, a Script Error window is displayed pointing towards lead.js (error message: )
I've identified that the Duplicate Detection rules are somehow related - this error only happens if fields which are checked are filled (Name, Phone Number and Email). Disabling the duplicate detection fixes the qualifying however Duplicate Detection is critical to our use of the CRM.
Any ideas/tips/pointers on what might be causing this?
Best,
Ollie
problem adding contact from Outlook CRM
I have a user who, when he tries to add a contact from his contact list in Outlook to CRM (using Set Parent) he gets an access denied due to security error.
I have gone through his security profile and everything seems OK and he is the Account Manager of the Account.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as I am guessing its something to do with the Security Profile?
Solutions Question
I am a developer and new to the CRM arena (4 months) and I have questions/concerns about solutions. I have been reading in the SDK and some very good articles in the forum. I would just like to post my thoughts on my situation to make sure I am on the right track and to spur any discussions that might be beneficial.
My environment:
- On-premises
- CRM 2011
- I am the lone developer
- Will have a dev server, a testing server (maybe) and a production server.
- I am not an ISV, all work is for my employer.
- Single organization
After reading the SDK and other articles, I am inclined NOT to use solutions to deploy my customizations. The SDK says I can still export the "default solution" as an unmanaged solution to transport between systems. Question: If I do that on the production server, and we find a problem, can those changes be "backed out" to restore CRM to its previous state prior to rollout?
Is this the best/easiest way for me to work? I know this may be a "religious" discussion to some extent and I don't mean to open a can of worms, but I would love to hear your opion/advice.
Sincerely,
Glen W.
CRM 2011 Audit RetrieveMultiple
I'm in the process of trying to write a Plugin to audit READs on CRM data ... the inbuilt auditing will only audit Create, Update or Deletes.
Reading around the subject I gather that I need to register a step in my plugin against the "RetrieveMultiple" message for Entities that I'm interested in.
I've created an Audit entity with the attributes:
xcor_auditid, Primary Key
xcor_entityreferenceguid, Single line of text (string representation of the Guid)
xcor_entityreferenceid, Single line of text (our unique reference number for the entityreference)
xcor_entitytype, single line of text ( the logical name of the entity)
xcor_operation, single line of text (CRUD operation - RetrieveMultiple in this case)
Now I'm capturing the RetrieveMultiple message in the Post-Operation step and I'm able to capture the EntityType from the context.PrimaryEntityType, however, I'd expect the context.PrimaryEntityId to be populated but it appears to be an empty Guid.
I've played around with various options but I'm unable to get the Guid of the retrieved record.
I have tried looking for "Target" in context.InputParameters and "BusinessEntity" in context.OutputParameters but neither exist. In fact the only In/OutputParameter is "Query" of type QueryExpression.
I'm using CRM 2011 Rollup 12.
Here's my code
public class Plugin : IPlugin
{ public void Execute(IServiceProvider serviceProvider)
{
if (serviceProvider == null)
{
throw new ArgumentNullException("serviceProvider");
}
// Get a reference to the tracing service.
ITracingService tracingService = (ITracingService)serviceProvider.GetService(typeof(ITracingService));
// Obtain the execution context from the service provider.
IPluginExecutionContext context = (IPluginExecutionContext)
serviceProvider.GetService(typeof(IPluginExecutionContext));
// Obtain the organization service reference.
IOrganizationServiceFactory serviceFactory = (IOrganizationServiceFactory)serviceProvider.GetService(typeof(IOrganizationServiceFactory));
IOrganizationService service = serviceFactory.CreateOrganizationService(context.UserId);
try
{
string[] operationsToAudit = new string[]{"Retrieve", "RetrieveMultiple"};
if (operationsToAudit.Contains(context.MessageName))
{
Entity audit = new Entity("xcor_audit");
audit["xcor_operation"] = context.MessageName;
audit["xcor_entitytype"] = context.PrimaryEntityName;
//audit["xcor_entityreferenceid"] = "????";
audit["xcor_entityreferenceguid"] = context.PrimaryEntityId.ToString();
service.Create(audit); }
}
catch (FaultException<OrganizationServiceFault> e)
{
tracingService.Trace(string.Format(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, "Exception: {0}", e.ToString()));
// Handle the exception.
throw;
}
finally
{
tracingService.Trace(string.Format(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, "Exiting Plugin.Execute()"));
}
}
}
If anyone has any ideas they would be much appreciated. Alternatively, if you've got any sample code to perform a similar function I'd love to see it.
Thanks, Rob
Help on workflows for sales lead email.
Hi everyone, need some guidence. I have looked over the forum and looking for advice on the workflows. Report on "Resource" Field in Service Activity (missing)
I cannot include the resource field from Service Activity in a report. I tried the report wizard, and this field is missing for column selection. Strangley enough I can select the column in an Advanced find, I tried downloading the XML data to create a Fetch Based Report, get error from BIDS to remove field. I tried SQL report, cannot find the correct view to use. I know this is a party list which is causing the problem, but how to get around this to report on resources used in a Service Activity?

Build SSRS reports with Visual Studio 2012?
Hi all,
I'm having a little trouble configuring my system to allow me to create custom SSRS reports with Visual Studio in conjunction with CRM 2011 Online.
(I know you're busy, feel free to jump to the actual question below all this background info)
So far I tried three approaches unsuccessfully:
Option 1: SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 / Visual Studio 2008 / Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Report Authoring Extension (with SQL Server Data Tools support)
The problem I'm having here is that I'm having trouble installing BIDS with SQL Server 2008. Keeps failing. Initially I was running SQL Server Express, then learned that this does not support BIDS. Now I have SQL 2008 Express with Advanced services (v10.1.2531.0) "BIDS" and "Management Tools - Basic" didn't install on first attempt though the rest of the software did. I installed SP1 as I was informed by the system to do so then tried again installing by selecting to add feature to existing installation, fails again. I have viewed the log file but cannot ascertain the problem.
Option 2: SQL Server Data Tools / Visual Studio 2010 / Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Report Authoring Extension (with SQL Server Data Tools support)
I successfully installed SQL Server Data Tools extension to VS2010. I don't however see the report templates as I do when logging into other versions of Visual Studio. The report authoring extension (with SQL Server Data Tools support) fails on installation as it says I do not have BIDS installed. I was under the impression that you can either use VS2008 with BIDS OR VS 2010 with SQL Server Data Tools.
Option 3: Visual Studio 2012 / Microsoft SQL Server 2012 / SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio 2012
This would be my preferred option. I see all the report templates I require in VS2012. I am aware the CRM 2011 Report Authoring Extension does not support doing it this way. I would like to create a manual data connection to CRM 2011 online, I don't have the connection option in VS2012 to select Dynamic CRM as I've seen in tutorials relating to previous versions (Type: Microsoft Dynamic CRM Fetch).
Other info: Dell Latitude E6510 / Windows 7
So, finally... my questions:
1. Can I use Visual Studio 2012 to create custom SSRS reports with Dynamic CRM online?
1. (a) Can I connect directly from VS2012 to CRM Online by providing the correct Connection string and credentials without needing the Report Authoring Extension?
2. Is it silly to have SQL Server 2008 and 2012 on the same machine, could this be causing my installation issues?
Any other thoughts/comments welcome. (I'm not particularly familiar or experienced with SQL Server-side stuff, so please take it easy.)
Many thanks in advance, Alex,
