Importing Connections in Dynamics 365

Hi Guys, 

We have created Connections between accounts (Parent and Child accounts) in the customer's Sandbox organisation. We now want to import those Connections in their Live organisation.  We have a file that contains these columns. 
Type (from), Connected From, Role (From), Type (To), Connected To, Role (To), Description. 

When we try to import we the imports fail saying " The connection cannot be saved. The selected record types are not defined for use with the selected connection roles. Select a different set of records or change the connection roles.". The problem is that the "Type"  field does not Exist in the field list of Connections.  Seing this we ignored the two "Type" fields in the mapping but it still doesn't work. I did find this blog https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/playingaroundwithmscrm2011/archive/2014/03/05/how-to-bulk-import-connections on the community but it looks like something for CRM 2011 and there is no mention of the "Type" fields in this blog. 

Has anyone come across this situation? If so, how did you solve it? 

Any input would be appreciated.

Bulk update Date Formats in User Personal Settings

Hi,

Is there a way to bulk update  Date Formats for multiple users? Our global setting is set to the correct format but the format the user level setting is not correct. I believe that the "User" level  setting inherits from the global setting when the users are being added. In our environment the users were added first and the global date format was changed retrospectively.

I have tried looking at the XrmToolBox, but its User Settings Utility does not give an option to set the "formats".  Please let me know if there is an out of the box way to change date format for multiple users.

delete items in a N:N relationship

Hi, I have a entity which is N: N relationship with case entity. I insert this entity in a subgrid, so that I can add items directly from this entity to case entity, but if I delete some thing in case , I also delete in that entity. Is there anyway I just delete something in case, and keep those items in that entity. In other words, I want to keep a generic entity to hold items, and reference those items in case, I am supposed to add or delete those reference if required, but not delete the items directly. Is that N:N behavior ?

Need to make a field calculate what is in another field and times that by a certain percent...

Hello,

I have a request for the following:

Field A is on one form(entity) in CRM and this field is formatted so only #'s can entered.

Field B is on a different form(entity in CRM and this field is formatted son only #'s can be entered.

Field C is on the same form as Field B and this is formatted as an option set pick list.

Field D is on the same form as Field B and this if formatted as an option set pick list.

Requirements:

Now, if Field A is filled in with a #, and Field C is equal to Handouts, then I need field B to be 25% of field A

If Field A is filled in with a #, and Field D is equal to Giveaways, then I need field B to be 50% of field A

Is this possible to do? 

Major issues with running a quick campaign vis Dynamics 365

I'm trying to send out a quick campaign to a marketing list of 3,100.  Each time i run it, it goes out and says its been successfull but when i open up my outlook 365 only a few emails actually go out and the rest are sitting in my drafts folder and continue to get duplicated there.  I try and remove the drafts and more just keep coming in.  this is starting to be a major issue.  Any troubleshooting or tricks to get it to run correctly?!

Hi every one, 

As it is mentioned in the question title I'm gonna need some informations ( actually many :p )  about creating a CRM mobile application from scratch for my Graduation project.. 

I'm totally new in CRM but I got the basics and I made my research. The problem is that I'm so confused about the huge amout of informations that I has found. First of all in the msdn site I sow that there two types to connect to CRM server whether by WEB API or web service and I spent a lot of time to find the difference between them but I did not got satisfied answer. Also about the technical stuff I found a lot of sample code in the CRM SDK but it's so hard to understand ( lot of examples .. connection with token // with proxy .. )

I will appreciate any help to get good vue on all these stuff ..

We are anticipating having a need for a portal.  We have added a trial portal to our tenant.  Next....

Do you have a list of blogs or Videos on what steps we should go through in order to understand a portal - what we can configure - what not.  I have my URL - which shows the populated trial.  How do I modify it.

I need to understand

  • Settting up security
  • Logon
  • Showing forms we have in our Dynamics

And much much more....

Hello,

I've created a Dynamics 365 App, i set the suffix, but I would like to redirect non admin users to the App directly without adding su suffix in the URL? Is there any way to do this? I 've checked "Show default app on landing page and in app switcher" in system admin, but this doesn't change anything.

Weird Relationship display behaviour on Mobile

Dear readers,

We are completing a CRM deployment and are busy with mobile optimalisations. On the account entity, we are having trouble with the display of the relationship tiles. The opportunity relation (Client lookup on Opportunity) is not displayed on the mobile app, while it is displayed on the webapplication under the Sales tab. I am unable to edit this behaviour.

Does anyone encountered any common problems with this issue?

Our second question is the display of relationship tiles where users does not have access to. They seem to be displayed in between relationship tiles as white space. When you click on them, for example the Entitlement tile, the user will encounter a access failed error. Does anyone know why these als displayed, while the user does not have privileges to that entity.

Calculate field depending on Current month

Hi!

I would like to fill a field (through workflow or creating it as a calculated field) depending on if it is the current month or last month etc.

The new field should work as follows:

I have a value field (Revenue) and a closing Date. So if the closing date is current month it should show 100% of the Revenue

If the closing date was last month, it should show 50% of the Revenue

If the closing date was 2 months ago, it should show 25% of the Revenue

If the closing date was 3 months ago, it should show 20% of the Revenue...

and no, it should not look at the actual number of days from closing date, but the actual month.

So if today is 1st of May and the closing date was the 30th of April, it should show 50% of the revenue since April is last month

Product not being recognized

Hello,

We are using Dynamics CRM 2016 and we have a catalog of our products listed in CRM. We use Scribe to integrate data from our main database into CRM, some of which involves products. Right now we has a Scribe integration that maps the product name from our main database to a field called productid in the Order Products entity. This is a lookup.

I have two new products that I have added on the CRM side and have set them up in the same way as we set up all of our other products and when I run the Scribe integration the CRM field for productid shows up as NULL, meaning CRM can't match the product to the product from our other database. As the products have been added into CRM and they do match our other database I am wondering if there is something else I am missing here. 

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I very much need a detailed explanation to what each specific security role is used for under each tab?  Where can I find a documentation for this?  It is not very efficient creating a security role and test driving each privilege. Does anyone have any information on this?

From my research (and failed attempts), it looks like CRM 2013 Outlook client can NOT be installed on Windows 10.  Can anyone confirm and ideally point me towards official Microsoft documentation that confirms this?

Delete report snapshots?

So I have a report snapshot that I have created a subscription to that emails out the report every Friday. I have just realized however that there is a limit to the # of snapshots that can be created so it has been mailing out the same snapshot for the past 4 weeks. How can I automatically purge these snapshots on a schedule so that new ones can be created?

I'M getting the error message - Microsoft.Crm.Setup.Shared.RemoveOrphaned ProductUpdateRegistryKeysAction failed.

I'm getting the following error message when trying to install Dynamics CRM 2015 (For a Migration). I had no internet access so all perquisites had to be manually installed. All checks have passed but the install fails alter a while

CRM for Outlook 2016 - Continuous crashes & disabling

Hello,

We've been having an issue where a number of people's CRM addin for outlook is disabling. It seems to occur most when the PC's go into sleep mode/hibernation mode and then go onto a different network, or something causes outlook to crash unexpectedly.

We've been continuously fixing it by re-enabling the addin via CRM Diagnostics tool, and we've updated most people to the latest version of the addin. I'm also going to be trying the load behavior registry update on a couple of people. 

What I'd like to know is what is the root cause of this issue, and how can we mitigate said issues. Though this issue can be fixed per event, it's beginning to really frustrate our users and we're unsure as to what could be causing this. 


Addin: CRM for Outlook 2016
OS: Windows 7 and Windows 10 (predominantly happening on Windows 10)

Any thoughts and/or experiences?
