XRM toolkit login failure. Crashes Visual Studio 2017 Community edition. Xrm toolkit dialog box does not show the organizations on server. Does not allow entry into the Organization drop down in the Xrm Toolkit Login dialog box.

Subject line says it all. But CRM is 2016 on-premise and 2016 there is an organization on my W2K16 Server that I can see via the web interface to CRM.  Everything is on the same virtual machine (CRM, browser, Visual Studio 2017 Community).  And Xrmtoolkit crashes VS and the Xrmtoolkit login dialog box when trying to use/connect to my plugin solution.
