Business process error - Updating Output field is not allowing in this context

Hi all,

we are CRM version 9.0 online.

In our CRM, Sales team wanted to update email id under the contacts entity. when they do so, they are getting updating output field is not allowed in this context error. But administraters can do the same. Please anyone can help me on this.
