Why is offline synchronization not supported by on-premises deployments?

Hi Community,

After a bit of research I've discovered that while mobile offline capability is available to both online or on-premise deployments. It comes in two flavours, one providing 'offline syncronisation' which comes with full automatic synchronisation of records when a user is back online and the other version providing 'offline drafts' where the user has to manually save the changes made in offline mode when they are back online.

It appears that the availability of the choice of the offline experience (offline synchronisation vs. offline drafts) is based on the license type and deployment environment.

There is currently no support for offline synchronisation in on-premise deployments and I wondered if anyone knows why or what are the barriers to preventing this functionality within on-premise deployments?

My research has been based on the following Microsoft links:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/dynamics/crm-customer-center/work-offline-in-dynamics-365-for-phones-and-tablets.aspx

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Dynamics/crm-customer-center/configure-mobile-offline-synchronization-for-dynamics-365-for-phones-and-tablets.aspx

Many thanks in advance for your anticipated response,

David.
