Custom entity contains Custom ribbon button on click of that button I need to create a record and change the status of the record

Hi,

   I have created a custom entity where I have a Custom ribbon button.

   What I need to do is to on click of that button records needs to be created and my plugin will get called.

   What happening right now is i need to save  the record first  using preexist save button and than i will be able to call my plugin.  

   Please guide me how i can achieve this.
