Email Notification : Workflow

Dear Forum Members:

I have built a Workflow, in Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online that notifies Users when

Cases get escalated based on certain criteria. The problem is that the email messages, when triggered by escalating cases, are not generating and landing in my Activity records (at bottom of Sales Activity Dashboard). Further, I get the following error:

you have e-mail messages more than 24 hours old that have not been sent. To send these messages, either sign in to Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook, or verify with your System Admin that the Email Router has been set up to send messages for you. for more information about e-mail configuration, see online help.

I don't need the email messages to sync to Outlook, nor have I installed Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook. I just need to see the email messages in the Sales Activity Dashboard activities along with appointments, tasks, and so forth.
