I am an Intern at my work place in charge of managing our CRM. We're currently in the process of moving from CRM 2011 to 2013. After our first test upgrade we noticed multiple broken accounts (17/38 tested), most of which contained a broken contact as well. We attempted a second upgrade, after removing pre-2006 custom fields, and this resulted in less failed accounts, but didn't fix all (still 13/38).
After troubleshooting for a day or two I noticed that this was related to old 2005-2006 Leads that are currently unavailable/broken in our 2011 CRM. Those leads were at some point turned to contacts, and added to accounts. These created contacts and accounts are the ones which are breaking after the 2013 upgrade.
At this point the only connection I can find is that they all originated from what's now a broken lead. We attempted an upgrade with those leads removed, but the contacts and accounts remain broken. If there's any information on this, or fix I would really like some insight.
