Our company is rolling out Skype-for-Business 2016 and we find that it makes changes to the registry which results in the Dynamic CRM 2013 add-in-for-Outlook disabling the Outlook 2013 menu ribbon.
When the CRM 2013 outlook add-in is disabled, then the Outlook menu re-appears.
When Skype for Business 2016 is uninstalled then the Outlook menu reappears.
When Outlook is started in safe mode then the Outlook menu re-appears.
When Skype for Business is deployed on a computer running CRM 2013 plugin for Outlook, then only the File menu within Outlook is visible. No attempt to reset the view to defaults, nor hide/ unhide menus will result in the outlook menu-bar displaying.
There was a fault with the same symptom reported with CRM 2011 outlook plugin when legacy registry entries were found to break the menu
https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/kb/2494581
related to older office leftovers in the registry.
In particular
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}
but in this care there are no legacy entries. It appears to be the modern entries that cause the failure.
We are still awaiting the re-delayed patch to allow CRM 2013 to work with Office 2016, promised for delivery Q2 2016.
