Workflow - creating campaign responses based on a field change

Hi - We are trying to track website conversion events.  We work with Hubspot which then populates some set fields in CRM so that we can do reporting based on those fields.  One of the fields we use is "Recent Conversion Event" which lists the name of our conversion event.  I would like to be able to track contacts and leads whenever they convert on certain web pages so that our sales reps can follow up with the clients to dig into their specific needs and then also create a report that shows us if the sales reps are indeed following up with the clients.  The best way I can see this happening is creating a workflow to create a campaign response any time the "Recent Conversion Event" changes.  However, it is not working properly which leads me to two questions.

1.  Is this the best way to keep track of this history in order to create reports which look at sales rep activity.  I'm thinking the report would look at the activity of contacts who have XYZ campaign response per sales rep.

2.  What am I doing wrong in this workflow that it is not creating my campaign responses appropriately?

  • workflow triggers when record fields change - recent conversion event
  • Check condition - does recent conversion event contain data and is the status of the contact active
  • Create the campaign response
  • change the campaign response status to closed

Thanks!
