Dynamics CRM "Lightweight" App for Outlook 2016 Desktop Issues

I'm trying to use this app add-in on Outlook 2016 (32-bit)/Windows 10, and it's very flaky with regards to opening and authentication. We're on Office 365 (Exchange Online) and CRM Online 2016, server side sync.

Example issues:

1) Click an email - Then, I always have to click the "ribbon" above the message just to display CRM information - I wish the CRM panel would already be open by default.

2) When I do open the CRM panel, it always goes through the "Authenticating.." followed by "Connecting" phases, and that takes a very long time, to the point of it being unusable. I've made sure that the Exchange profile has set the email account I'm using as its default.

3) About half the time, it comes up blank, or gets stuck in "Authenticating".

Is what I'm seeing typical? I'm willing to accept that maybe the CRM panel isn't going to be displayed by default, but I would think that once I've authenticated it wouldn't have to do it over and over for each and ever mail message I open.

Any advice appreciated. If the behavior you're seeing is the same, or different - I'd like to know also.
