Including other fields in the search

If I type an account name or contact name into the search, any matching records are returned. I have a custom field that I would like to be searchable so I followed these steps:

  1. Created the field and added it to the form
  2. Made sure that the searchable checkbox was checked
  3. Added the field to the Accounts quick find view (as per this guide: https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/dynamics_universitycrm/archive/2012/09/25/setting-the-quick-find-search-criteria-in-crm-2011)
  4. Published the customisations

Now, one would have thought that entering a known value of the custom field into the search box, any matching results would be returned. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

I tried adding the address1_postalcode field to the quick find to see if the issue is related to custom fields. Entering a known post code also doesn't work.

What am I missing!??
