In CRM Online and Dynamics Outlook Client, my users are trying to "Set [email/task/note/etc.] Regarding" a custom entity built by a prior system customizer. Currently, it shows the value for "new_number", rather than for "new_title", which is much more intuitive.
The primary field for the custom entity is "new_number" which is a single line of text, with text format, max length 100. This data type has been a headache to work with up to this point (setting parameters for reports, etc.). Aware that this is not how the custom entity should have been set up, with the system having a high volume of usage, it would require a good bit of effort (sitemap changes, business rules, data migration) to re-create this entity properly.
Therefore, the only question that makes sense to ask is:
"How would I make the value, within an email or a task, for "Set Regarding" show "new_title", rather than "new_number"? Or, does this automatically dafault to the primary field?"
If we cannot set regarding "new_title", hopefully this thread provides useful information for anyone creating a custom entity with best practice in mind.
